Lily grew up barefoot on an organic and biodynamic vineyard in Mendocino county. Her studies and work have taken her from the fjords of Norway, where she studied traditional crafts and outdoor living, to the Andes, where she climbed some of Ecuador’s highest peaks. She has worked as an educator for over 13 years, first as a lead instructor for Kroka Expeditions, then as an Eurythmy teacher for Hawthorne Valley Waldorf School. Lily is trained in the fundamentals of Anthroposophical Education, and brings a deep empathy to her teaching for each child. Lily has also worked for years as a professional caterer, and brings a California/Mediterranean touch to the menus at Farthest Field. Lily is happiest when she is working in the garden, out on expedition, swimming in cold water, or spending time with her family. Lily’s enthusiastic love for plants, animals, children, and the outdoors is infectious, and she brings a down to earth love to her work.

Landon’s deep love for the natural world began as a child, playing in the woods and romping through the corn fields of Central Pennsylvania. His lifelong fascination with creatures living under leaves and rocks -and the leaves and rocks themselves- led him to a degree in Environmental Biology and to assisting field ecology classes in New Zealand. Upon returning to the States, Landon began his career in outdoor education; inspiring students with his passion and knowledge of the natural world. Most recently Landon has worked as a lead guide and semester teacher at Kroka Expeditions, weaving his skills as a craftsman, farmer, and musician into his teaching. When he’s not plucking his banjo around a fire, Landon can be found paddling a handmade canoe, riding a bike, or foraging for wild foods.
Landon is a Wilderness First Responder and Certified Hobbit.
